Stephens Co. To Honor STAR Student, Teacher Today

February 7, 2013

The Stephens County School System will recognize its STAR student and teacher this afternoon at Stephens County High School.

The Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce says this year’s STAR student is Annabelle Zhuno. She then selected her 11th grade SAT preparation class teacher Carolyn Frady as her STAR teacher.

The Student Teacher Achivement Recognition program, in its 55th year, is sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Department of Education.

To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.

The Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce and its Education Committee is the sponsoring organization of the Stephens County School System STAR Program and partners with the high school to honor these students and teacher.
