Stephens County Commissioners will continue budget discussions at a meeting this week.
The commission will hold a budget retreat Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the Kimsey Center on the Clary Connector in Eastanollee.
County commissioners held a budget retreat last month over two days.
Following that, Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers said that the Fiscal Year 2014 budget is proving to be a difficult one that has already resulted in a number of proposed cuts.
In addition, she said that the budgets went back to the department heads and constitutional officers to find more cuts within their respective budgets.
As of the budget retreat last month, Ayers said no positions have been cut in the proposed budget and the budget did not include a millage rate increase.
The county’s current budget calendar calls for the first reading of the Fiscal Year 2014 budget on June 11.
Stephens County’s Fiscal Year 2014 budget must be approved on or before June 30 for the start of Fiscal Year 2014, which is on July 1.
