Stephens Co. Swept at Habersham In Hoops Action

The Stephens County Indians come up just short in a bid for five in a row.

DeAndre Singleton missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as the Habersham Central Raiders came from behind in the fourth quarter to edge Stephens County 55-52 Saturday night in Mt. Airy.

Chris Jones had a season-high 23 points to lead the Indians and Tay Jones added 10 points.

De’Cellis Outlaw scored 18 points to lead the Raiders, while Bennett Black had 13 points.

Stephens County’s boys are now 4-5 on the season and the loss breaks their four-game winning streak.

Moving to the girls’ game, Lainey Gosnell scored 24 points to lead the Lady Raiders to a 50-35 win over the Lady Indians.

Habersham Central got 13 points from Hannah Ward to help Gosnell.

Emily Mote and Kentasia Trimier had eight points each to lead the Lady Indians, who dropped to 3-6.

Stephens County returns to non-region action on Monday night in Hartwell against Hart County.

The varsity girls’ game will tip off at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow.
