Stephens Co. Shut Out By North Oconee

A strong performance from North Oconee freshman Kumar Rocker on the mound sends the Indians to defeat in Region 8-AAAA baseball play.

Rocker threw five no-hit innings and North Oconee made an early run hold up in a 1-0 win over Stephens County Friday night at the Reservation.

Stephens County got two hits in the sixth inning off of reliever Tristen Thompson, but North Oconee escaped the jam and then retired the Indians in order in the seventh to win the game.

Despite a lack of hits, the Indians did put 11 men on base for the game, but stranded them all.

The Titans got their only run in the second inning when Davis McCall walked the bases loaded, then walked Wes Snyder to force in what turned out to be the winning run.

McCall was the tough luck losing pitcher for the Indians, going the distance and striking out seven while allowing just three hits.

The loss drops the Indians to 10-8 overall and 5-5 in region play, while North Oconee moves to 7-8 overall and 3-5 in Region 8-AAAA.

Stephens County heads back on the road Monday to face Chestatee at 5:55 p.m.

AM 630 WNEG will not broadcast Monday’s game due to the Atlanta Braves’ season opener.
