Cold Start This Morning in Stephens Co.

The Stephens County school system is starting as normal this morning.

On its website, the school system says that schools will begin at the regularly scheduled times today.

The school system does say that buses will stop to wait on students to get from their homes to the bus for pick-up.

Meanwhile, Franklin County schools are also operating on a regular schedule with no delays today.

Elsewhere, Habersham County schools are operating on a two-hour delay today for students and staff.

School officials are also reminding students to dress appropriately for the cold temperatures this morning.

A wind chill advisory remains in effect for Stephens County until 9 a.m. today as winds are 5 to 10 miles per hour with gusts higher.

Combined with the cold temperatures, the possibility exists for wind chill values around zero in a widespread area and lower in some places.

The National Weather Service says a wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills and the weather service urges precautions to protect against the weather if going outside.
