The Stephens County School System has a new finance director.
Tuesday, the Stephens County Board of Education approved the hiring of Justin Beecher as the school system’s new finance director.
According to Stephens County School Superintendent Sherrie Whiten, Beecher is originally from Toccoa and is a graduate of the Stephens County School System.
Whiten said that Beecher comes back to Stephens County after spending the last four years at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta.
“He has had quite a diverse experience there, so we are just so excited to have him with us,” said Whiten. “He has had a lot of experience and we just know he is going to do an outstanding job. We welcome him back to Stephens County.”
While at Lockheed Martin, Beecher has served as a Multi-Function Financial Analyst in Engineering Business Management, Value Engineer in Air Mobility Pricing and Estimating, and most recently has been a Senior Proposal Analyst in Price/Cost Analysis. Prior to his time at Lockheed Martin, Beecher worked at IBM in Atlanta as a Customer Account Manager in Business Support Operations.
Beecher earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from the University of Georgia and his Masters of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
Whiten said Beecher will start in Stephens County on or around April 1.
She went on to say that Beecher will be involved in the Fiscal Year 2014 budget process.
“I think with some of the things he has done at Lockheed Martin, I do not think it will be a huge stretch,” said Whiten. “I think he will move right along with us in a team effort to get this budget ready.”
The Fiscal Year 2014 budget must be approved on or by June 30.
Beecher replaces Annah Dodge, who resigned in February.
According to Whiten, the school system had an excellent group of about 20 applicants to choose from for the position. She added that Beecher was chosen after the school system interviewed about 5 or 6 applicants.
