A Stephens County resident is involved in an accident in Oconee County, South Carolina that leaves one person dead.

The accident occurred Thursday afternoon on South Carolina State Highway 183.

According to South Carolina state authorities, the accident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. near the High Falls Express convenience store.

South Carolina State Trooper Joe Hovis says a van driven by Robert Larue Manus of Eastanollee was headed south on S.C. 183 in the same direction as a bicycle being ridden by 58-year-old David Lynn Wilson of Seneca, South Carolina.

Hovis says the van struck the bicycle from the rear.

Oconee County, South Carolina Coroner Karl Addis says Wilson died at the scene.

Addis has ruled Wilson’s death as accidental and no autopsy is planned, but Hovis says charges are pending.
