Stephens Co. Relay for Life Kick-off Thursday

The American Cancer Society will kick off another Relay for Life campaign this week.

The 2015 Relay for Life Kick-off event is set for Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Stephens County High School cafeteria.

American Cancer Society Stephens County Relay for Life Specialist Cameron Lopez said the kick-off event is a chance to both look back to last year’s Relay and look forward to this year.

“We are going to be giving out awards to top teams and sponsors for the 2014 event and then we will be also talking about the 2015 event, all of the different activities we already have planned and some new enhancements team captains have to look forward to in 2015,” said Lopez.

Lopez said the Kick-off is happening a couple of months earlier than it used to be.

However, she said by having it earlier, they are hoping to continue the momentum from one year’s Relay to the next.

She went on to say that the kick-off is open to anyone who is already involved or interested in getting involved in Relay for Life.

“Relay for Life kick-off is geared toward team captains and also those that would like to participate,” said Lopez. “It is also geared towards our cancer survivors.”
