Stephens Co. Relay for Life Kick-off on Tuesday

Stephens County Relay for Life will kick off its yearly campaign this week with an event.

This year’s Relay for Life Kick-off is coming up on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Stephens County Senior Center on Rose Lane in Toccoa.

Proceeds from the Relay for Life benefit the American Cancer Society.

American Cancer Society Stephens County Community Manager Cameron Lopez said that they are looking forward to starting this year’s Relay effort with Tuesday’s kick-off event.

“At kick-off, our attendees can expect to learn more about Relay for Life through a little game that we are going to play, ‘Relay Bingo,’ where we are going to have all of our guests go around to different tables and learn about Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society and how the two of them work together to help our cancer patients.”

This year’s Stephens County Relay for Life will take place on June 3 in Toccoa at the Stephens County Recreation Department’s football field.

Lopez went on to say that anyone interested in being part of this year’s Relay is welcome to find out more by coming to the kick-off event.

“Anybody that is interested in having a team for Relay for Life and by that, I mean anybody who is interested in fundraising for Relay for Life. It could be a church group; it could be your business group, your friends, your family. Then of course, cancer survivors and their caregivers are always invited to any Relay for Life function that we have.”
