Stephens Co. Planning Commission Holds First Meeting

The Stephens County Planning Commission holds its first meeting.

The new board met for its first official meeting Tuesday night at the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

In its first order of business, the Planning Commission selected a chair and vice-chair.

By a unanimous vote of the board, Mark Smith was elected to serve as the Planning Commission Chairperson and Myron McClain was elected to serve as the commission’s Vice-Chair.

In other action taken during its first meeting, the Planning Commission made a formal motion and unanimously approved the commission’s by-laws, which were established by the Land Use Ordinance approved by county commissioners.

Also, the Planning Commission unanimously voted to hold its regular meetings for 2014 on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the historic courthouse.
