Stephens Co. Names E-911/EMA Director Finalist

Stephens County names its finalist for the position of E-911 and Emergency Management Agency Director.

On Friday, Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers announced that the sole finalist for the position is Danielle Rhodes of Hampton, Georgia.

Ayers said there is going to be a 14-day public notice period before action is taken on the potential hiring of Rhodes to the position.

According to her resume, Rhodes was most recently the Communications Training Officer at Fayette County E911 Communications from April 2014 to March 2016.

She said in that role, she was responsible for classroom instruction and one-on-one training, as well as applying policies and procedures in the office.

Prior to that, Rhodes said she was a 911 Dispatcher Supervisor for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office for nearly seven years, a 911 Dispatcher for nearly six years and an assistant EMT instructor at a North Carolina community college.

Rhodes said she has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Western Carolina University and an Associates in Applied Science in Emergency Medical Service.

She has also taken the FEMA Independent Study Program in Disaster Management Courses.

If hired by the county after the public notice period, Rhodes would replace Denny Folsom as the county’s E-911 and EMA Director.

Folsom resigned from the joint position last month.

Late last month, Stephens County Commissioners appointed Stephens County Volunteer Fire Coordinator Jamey Gettys to serve as Interim EMA Director until a permanent director could be hired.
