Stephens Co. MLK Events Start Saturday

Activities in Stephens County to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. are scheduled to get underway this weekend.

Activities are set to begin on Saturday with an art contest at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Toccoa and the annual talent and fashion contest at 5 p.m. at the Schaefer Center in downtown Toccoa.

Then on Sunday, it will be the oratorical and essay contest at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Toccoa.

More activities are also set for next weekend.

On Saturday, January 18 at 3 p.m. at the Reach Out Time Chapel in Martin, there will be “Senior Citizen Reflections.”

Moving to Sunday, January 19, Friendship Baptist Church in Toccoa will host a musical extravaganza at 5 p.m.

Then on Monday, January 20, Trinity C.M.E. Church in Toccoa will once again host the Interfaith Service at noon followed by the March to Toccoa City Hall at 2 p.m. on January 20.
