Stephens Co. Marks July 4th

July 4, 2013

A wet Wednesday could not stop the fireworks in Stephens County.

The rain broke long enough Wednesday night for the annual Community Fireworks Show at the Stephens County Recreation Department to take place after dark.

While the rain held off then, more is in the forecast for today to add to the more than two inches downtown Toccoa received Wednesday and this morning.

Meanwhile, Toccoa City Hall will be closed today in observance of the Fourth of July, as will Stephens County government offices.

Meanwhile, routes for garbage and recyclables in the city of Toccoa scheduled to be picked up today will be picked up on Friday.

Commercial garbage will be picked up as usual, but yard waste and other items will not be picked up.

The Toccoa Police and Fire Departments will be on duty. Utility department employees, as well as employees from the Public Works Department, will be on call for emergency situations.
