Stephens Co. Jury Convicts Man on Drug Charges

June 21, 2013

A Mt. Airy man will spend time in prison after a jury finds him guilty on drug charges.

A Stephens County Superior Court jury convicted Ricky Orell Frady on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute this week.

Superior Court Judge Chan Caudell sentenced Frady Thursday.

Frady will serve 15 years in prison, followed by 5 years probation and then a 10-year suspended sentence.

Sentenced as a recidivist, court officials indicate Frady will not be eligible for early release from prison.

According to authorities, Frady was arrested after a traffic stop on Falls Road in February 2012.

Authorities say he was a passenger in a vehicle and was in possession of methamphetamine during the traffic stop.

Once Frady was taken to jail, authorities say they found more methamphetamine on Frady inside of a flashlight that he was carrying.
