Stephens Co. Hosting Special Olympics Today

Stephens County will host the annual Special Olympics Spring Games this morning at the Stephens County High School Football Stadium.

Numerous athletes ranging from the elementary school grades to high school to master athletes will be competing and participating in track and field events. The events are scheduled to start following the opening ceremonies scheduled for 9 a.m.

Included with the games is “Olympic Town’ which is open to middle school, high school, and Master athletes in the morning, and young and elementary athletes after lunch, and will feature fun and games for the athletes when they are not competing.
The opening ceremony at 9 this morning will feature a number of community and school leaders as volunteer buddies marching along with the athletes in the “Parade of Athletes.”

Drone Photography USA will also provide a unique aerial view of the games. There will also be a moment of silence in memory of former Special Olympic athlete Marty Crumpton. Again, the Stephens County Special Olympics begin this morning at 9 a.m. at the stadium at Stephens County High School.
