The Georgia Department of Labor is putting on a job fair today in Stephens County.
The job fair, sponsored by the Department of Labor’s ToccoaCareerCenter, will take place at the Currahee Campus of North Georgia Technical College on Highway 17 South between Toccoa and Martin.
Toccoa Career Center Supervisor Cathy Smith said they are expecting a large turnout for the job fair.
“We are expecting 65 employers,” said Smith. “If the customers will come early, there are workshops that will begin at 11 a.m. We are asking that all of the customers that come through bring plenty of resumes and be prepared for possible interviews for job openings with employers.”
The job fair will run from noon until 3 p.m.
As for the early bird workshops starting at 11 a.m., Smith said those will cover a wide range of important topics.
“We have workshops on interviewing skills and we also have a workshop for unemployed people looking for on-the-job training,” said Smith.
Smith went on to emphasize that once the job fair starts, those looking for work should be ready to discuss openings that are available.
She added that the Department of Labor is very excited about this year’s job fair and career expo.
“I would encourage to come a little early,” said Smith. “There is always a large line.”
