Stephens County Hospital says its finances are off to a fairly good start in the new fiscal year.

The Hospital provided its monthly financial report for October at Monday’s regularly scheduled Hospital Authority meeting.

Stephens County Hospital Administrator Ed Gambrell said that the hospital ended the month of October in the black.

“The patient census is picking up,” said Gambrell. “Radiology was very busy in October. Surgery was busier than it had been in October, so we really had a decent October. November, so far, looks fairly strong as well. We have entered our winter busy season.”

October is the first month of Stephens County Hospital’s fiscal year, which runs from October 1 through September 30.
