Stephens Co. Hospital Receives FY 2015 Audit

Good news comes in on the audit report for Stephens County Hospital.

The Hospital Authority presented the Fiscal Year 2015 audit report it received at Monday’s meeting.

According to the Hospital Authority, auditors Dixon, Hughes, and Goodman gave the hospital a clean audit opinion again for the fiscal year that ended on September 30, 2015.

Stephens County Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said she and the authority were pleased to receive that audit report.

“It is my understanding that they have had unqualified, clean audit reports in the past, so this is not unusual,” said Anderson.

The audit report also showed that Stephens County Hospital ended Fiscal Year 2015 with a positive bottom line.

Anderson said that is also a positive sign.

“We happened to have a modest positive bottom line, based primarily from appeals to cost reports of prior years,” said Anderson. “In prior years, we had some financial issues and we still, on an operational basis, struggle from month to month to try to make that, but we are stable and I think the audit represented that well.”

As for this fiscal year, the Stephens County Hospital Authority reported that while revenues were off slightly in December, the hospital had a positive bottom line for the final month of calendar year 2015.

In other news from Monday’s Stephens County Hospital Authority meeting, the authority reported that lumber was going up on the addition at the Wilkinson Center.

The Wilkinson Center expansion, which is adding six units to the facility, is expected to open in the Spring.

Construction on the addition began back around October.
