Surgical and Medical Units Now on Same Floor at Stephens Co. Hospital

Stephens County Hospital combined the medical and surgical floors last week.

Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said that they made the decision to combine these units because volumes have been down.

According to Anderson, combining these floors will allow the hospital to take care of those patients with fewer resources.

“We could have all of the nurses and patient care techs in one nursing unit as opposed to having them divided,” said Anderson. “We felt like it was a good cost effective move because we could take care of all those patients with less resources.”

Anderson said that the combination has gone smoothly so far.
