Stephens Co. Fugitives Found in Oconee Co.

Suspects wanted in Stephens County on charges are found in South Carolina.

The Oconee County, South Carolina Sheriff’s Office said it occurred over the weekend when a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division met with officers from Stephens County in regards to reports of three fugitives hiding in Oconee County.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, the officers responded near the area of Chattooga Ridge Road and Whetstone Road in the Mountain Rest area.

Authorities then said with assistance from an officer with the U.S. Forest Service, the three individuals were located in a small camping area in the woods nearby.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said that the three suspects, 31 year old James Douglas Roberts of Davis Avenue, 32 year old Andrew Thomas Epps and 31 year old Clara Leeann Palmer, both of Briarwood Drive, all in Toccoa, were booked into the Detention Center on Temporary Custody Orders until Fugitive from Justice warrants were obtained by Stephens County.

Oconee County, South Carolina authorities said a hold was placed on all three by authorities in Stephens County.
