Stephens Co. Commission Meeting Today

Stephens County Commissioners will meet today for a regularly scheduled business meeting.

The county commission is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the second-floor courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

County commissioners are first scheduled to hold a public hearing for a proposed change to the alcohol ordinance regarding applications, along with a public hearing for a new alcohol license for the Calico Country Store.

Following the public hearings, Stephens County Commissioners will move into a work session to discuss items on the business meeting agenda.

Items on today’s Stephens County Commission meeting agenda include the semi-annual report from Stephens County Development Authority Executive Director Tim Martin, consideration of a motion to increase State Court legal fees by $15,000 to provide for the hiring of an attorney for State Court, and consideration of a motion to extend a temporary moratorium for signage and billboards within unincorporated parts of Stephens County for another 90 days.

Today’s 5:30 p.m. Stephens County Commission meeting also allows time for public comment.
