Stephens County Commissioners approve Thanksgiving gift cards and Christmas year-end bonuses for county employees.
Tuesday, the county commission voted unanimously to provide a $30 gift card for county employees at Thanksgiving, as well as year-end bonuses for county employees of $100 for full-time employees and $50 for part-time employees.
Stephens County Commission Chairman Dean Scarborough said this is a way for the commission to thank the employees for their work over the past year.
“It is just a small way we can show appreciation to our good employees,” said Scarborough.
The money for the gift cards, which will cost the county $4,830, and the bonuses, which will cost the county $15,150, will come from the county’s contingencies fund.
Meanwhile, the commission also unanimously approved the appointment of Roger Duncan to the Board of Assessors to complete the unexpired term of Milton Spratlin, which runs through December 31, 2013, on Tuesday. County officials indicate that Spratlin chose to resign from that board.
