About one month into the 2013-2014 school year, figures show enrollment has remained fairly steady in the Stephens County School System.
At the Stephens County Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, School Superintendent Sherrie Whiten presented the school board with enrollment numbers for the system as of Tuesday.
Whiten said those enrollment numbers show that, as of Tuesday, 4080 students were enrolled in the entire school system.
That number is nine students less than the enrollment number for last school year of 4089.
Looking at enrollment at each school as of Tuesday, 1127 students are at Stephens County High School, 932 are at Stephens County Middle School, 535 are at Liberty Elementary, 506 students are enrolled at Toccoa Elementary, 494 are at Big A Elementary, and 480 are enrolled at Eastanollee Elementary.
When compared to last year, enrollment is up at Big A, Eastanollee, and LibertyElementary Schools, while it is down at Toccoa Elementary, Stephens County Middle School, and Stephens County High School.
In addition, Tuesday’s enrollment numbers do show some slight changes from initial numbers reported on August 27.
Whiten said that it is not unusual to see such changes in the numbers at this time of the year.
