Stephens Co. BOE Names Chair, Vice Chair

The Stephens County Board of Education sets its Chair and Vice-Chair for the year ahead.

Tuesday, the Board of Education selected Tony Crunkleton as the chairman of the school board for 2015.

Four board members voted for Crunkleton. They were Jim Bellamy, Jeff Webb, Rodney Moore, Jr., and Jim Ledford.

Board member Dr. Elizabeth Pinkerton, the former chair, voted for David Fricks,

Fricks and Crunkleton did not vote.

Fricks was then unanimously selected by the other six Board of Education members to serve as Vice-Chair in 2015.

Also, the Board of Education voted unanimously to keep the same attorney, Harben, Hartley, and Hawkins of Gainesville, for 2015.

In addition to those appointments, the Board of Education chose Tuesday to keep its board meetings on the same schedule for the next 12 months.

Regular monthly Stephens County Board of Education business meetings will take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Stephens County School System Administrative Offices on Mize Road.

Meanwhile, the Board of Education will continue to hold work sessions or called meetings on the Thursday prior to the regular monthly meeting. Those will also start at 5:30 p.m. and be held at the School System Administrative Offices.

As a reminder, the school board is holding a special called meeting today at 8 a.m. at the system’s administrative offices to discuss possible further budget reductions.
