The Stephens County Board of Education is expected to name the finalist or finalists for the position of Stephens County School Superintendent at a meeting this morning.
A meeting of the Stephens County Board of Education has been called for 8:30 a.m. today.
The meeting announcement states that the purpose of the meeting is to name the finalists for the superintendent’s position.
School board members are required to name either one, two, or three finalists publicly.
The board must then wait at least two weeks before officially naming a superintendent.
Whoever is eventually chosen as Stephens County School Superintendent will replace Sherrie Whiten.
She retired last week from the position she held for the last five years.
Assistant Superintendent Jason Kaup is serving as Interim Superintendent until the Board of Education names a permanent superintendent.
Kaup said he is not a candidate for the position on a permanent basis.
