Stephens Co. Announces STAR Student, Teacher

Stephens County names its STAR student and teacher for 2014.

This week, the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce announced that Connor Roberts is the STAR Student for the Stephens County School System.

Connor is the son of Barry and Lynn Roberts of Toccoa.

He selected Mrs. Tamara Cash as his STAR Teacher.

Mrs. Cash taught Connor in Math I in the 9th grade and Calculus in the 12th grade.

The STAR, or Student Teacher Achievement Recognition, program is in its 56th year and is sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Department of Education.

To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.
