Stephens Co. Added To List of Counties Under State of Emergency by Gov.

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal says a state of emergency over the winter weather this week was extended into Stephens County.

Stephens County is one of 24 counties that the Georgia Emergency Management Agency says ended up under the state of emergency that was first declared for 15 counties on Monday prior to the storm moving in.

That state of emergency also included Banks, Habersham, and Rabun counties.

Governor Deal says the state of emergency was declared due to significant damage, impassable roads, and widespread power outages.
