State Tennis Tourney Begins Today

State tournament play gets underway today for the Indian boys’ tennis team.

Stephens County’s boys will travel later today to take on Columbus in the first round of the state AAAA tennis tournament. Columbus finished second in Region 5-AAAA while the Indians finished third in Region 8-AAAA.

The Indian boys are 12-3 overall and are making their sixth trip in eight years to the state playoffs.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Indians will play their first round state match Tuesday at LaGrange. LaGrange is the Region 5-AAAA champion for the sixth straight year, while the Lady Indians finished fourth in Region 8-AAAA.

This is the first trip to the state tourney for the Lady Indian tennis team since 2008.
