State Setting Up Learning Resource Review Sites

Starting today, educators and the public will have a chance to review textbooks and other learning resources for instruction in K-12 Foreign/Modern Languages & Latin and K-12 English as a Second Language at various locations across the state.

There are 14 sites around the state with one in each of Georgia’s congressional districts.

In this area, the site is located at Cornelia Elementary School in the cafeteria.

Cornelia Elementary School is located on Old Cleveland Road in Cornelia.

The sites will be open Monday through Thursday, generally during the school business hours. All sites are closed on Fridays and holidays.

At Cornelia Elementary, the hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The 2015 Learning Resources Evaluation Sites will be open for approximately three weeks.

The sites will allow the public, including parents and educators, to review and evaluate learning resources that may be used in the classroom over the coming years.

This year, the state is compiling a list of learning resources and instructional materials for Grades K-12 Foreign/Modern Languages & Latin and ESOL courses.

After the summer review, the Learning Resources Advisory Committee will meet in late July to compile a recommended list of learning resources for approval by the State Board of Education. Each local school system will determine which learning resources best meet the system’s particular instructional needs.
