State Releases SAT Averages

The Georgia Department of Education released 2014 district and state level results on the SAT exam earlier this month.

According to those figures, Stephens County Schools had a mean of 488 on Critical Reading, 465 on Math, and 455 on Writing, out of 102 test takers.

State averages were 488 on Critical Reading, 485 on Math, and 472 on Writing.

Officials with the state’s Education Department say 77 percent of Georgia’s seniors took the SAT in 2014.

State officials say that is a 2.1 percent increase from 2013.

They also report that state SAT averages were down slightly from 2013.

Georgia School Superintendent Dr. John Barge says that as more students take the SAT, slight decreases in scores can be seen sometimes, but adds that long-term gains in scores will come.
