Squirrel Blamed For Downtown Toccoa Power Outage

January 28, 2013

Officials with Georgia Power said that a squirrel in the system is to blame for a power outage in the downtown Toccoa area Monday morning.

The power went out at around 8:45 a.m. Monday, affecting around 600 customers, including the AM 630 WNEG studios.

A Georgia Power spokesman said that the squirrel got into the system and caused a fuse to blow.

The spokesman said that about half of the 600 customers had power restored 25 to 30 minutes after the outage, while most of the rest had power restored within the next 30 to 45 minutes.
