Smith Signs With Brenau

Another Stephens County High School softball player signs to play collegiately.

Karly Smith signed on Friday to play softball at Brenau University in Gainesville next year.

Smith says she looked at a number of colleges to play at and also considered Truett-McConnell and Shorter.

However, she said Brenau is where she feels the most comfortable.

“I just felt like when I went on my visit it was just like home,” said Smith. “I know a couple girls that play for Brenau and I just felt comfortable on campus.”

Smith said she knows former Lady Indians Lexie Cash and Emily Mote, who also both signed at Brenau to play softball.

She said she expects to play outfield when she gets there.

“Primarily outfield,” said Smith. “I also catch, but I do not see myself playing there.”

Off the field, Smith said she plans to study biology, looking towards a medical degree afterwards.
