Sign-ups Underway for Festival of Trees

The Toccoa Main Street program is putting out the call for entries into this year’s Festival of Trees in downtown Toccoa.

The 7th annual Festival of Trees is set for December 5 and 6 in the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

Toccoa Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said the Festival of Trees is a way for local businesses and groups to help non-profit organizations in the community.

“Businesses or organizations can decorate a tree and put it up in the courthouse and people can vote for $1 for their favorite tree,” said Crosby.

The winning tree gets $500 for their non-profit.

Each non-profit does keep the money raised from votes for their particular tree.

“It is a wonderful way for our local businesses and local non-profits to raise money,” said Crosby.

The trees will be on display in the historic courthouse in conjunction with ChristmasFest in Toccoa on December 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. and then on Saturday, December 6 from noon to 4 p.m.

Crosby said businesses and groups can begin signing up now.

Trees should be artificial, with lights and decorations, said Crosby.
