Shooting Incident Investigation Continues

An investigation continues into a shooting incident last week that resulted in one injury in Toccoa.

It happened on Friday at about 12:45 p.m.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell said officers responded to a residence on South Alexander Street, where they found someone with an injury outside along the street.

“When officers arrived, they met with Marcus Antoine Quillian, 25 years of age, of Toccoa,” said Jarrell. “Qullian had a single gunshot wound to his left leg below the knee.”

Jarrell said that Quillian was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he was treated for his injury.

The chief said the injury did not appear to be life-threatening.

According to Jarrell, it appears as if the injury was caused a small caliber weapon.

However, he said authorities have not been able to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident at this time.

“It is unsure at the present time as to how the incident took place,” said Jarrell. “It is still under investigation with the Toccoa Police Department with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.”

Jarrell did say that police believe this to be an isolated incident and add that authorities do not believe there is any danger to the public.
