Sheriff’s Dept.’s Follow up on Burglary Investigation Leads to Drug Arrests

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley reports seven people were arrested on drug charges after investigators went to 317 Skyview Lane in Toccoa to follow up on an ongoing burglary investigation.

Investigators arrived at the residence on May 11 and at that time, multiple subjects began running from open windows and doors in several different directions. Investigators chased the first suspect while other investigators secured the residence.

The first suspect was caught and during a search of his person, investigators located a bag containing suspected marijuana in his pocket. This individual was identified as Bradley Chance age 18 of Toccoa. Chance was charged with Obstruction of an Officer, Felony Possession of marijuana (more than one once) and an outstanding probation violation warrant. He was transported to the Stephens County jail pending a hearing.

Deputies then obtained a search warrant for the residence and returned to execute it. During the search of the residence, deputies located a concealed doorway leading to the crawl space. Throughout the residence, investigators found various forms of drug paraphernalia including smoking devices, packaging material and scales. Investigators also located a quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana along with a firearm that is believed to be stolen from the burglary of a residence in the city of Toccoa. Twelve warrants were issued and seven people arrested as a result of the search warrant.

Those arrested include Terence Fortson age 27 of Toccoa, Damarian Flentall age 28 of Toccoa, Nicole Morgan age 21 of Toccoa, Jessica Brown age 25 of Toccoa, Felicity Pelles age 17 of Toccoa, and Oczavian Gholston age 24 of Clarkesville for possession of methamphetamine. Channin Mayfield age 27 of Toccoa was arrested and charged with Possession of methamphetamine, Possession of a firearm during the commission of a drug crime, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

All suspects were transported to the Stephens county jail where they were processed and are pending bond hearings.
