Fatal Home Invasion Remains Under Investigation

More information is available on an apparent home invasion in Stephens County that left one of the alleged intruders dead.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, the home invasion occurred Sunday at approximately 9:30 p.m.

“Four subjects, armed with handguns and long guns, forced their way into a residence located at 696 Waters Edge Drive in Martin,” said Shirley. “During the incident, one of the occupants of the home was able to retrieve an assault rifle that he kept at the residence and subsequently shot one of the intruders.”

The intruder who was shot was found dead at the scene upon deputy arrival and has been identified as 34-year-old Demetrice Faust of Oglethorpe County, Georgia.

Shirley said the three remaining suspects fled the scene and remain at large.

The sheriff said that his office is working in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on this case and adds that authorities are actively pursuing leads at this time.
