Sheriff Announces Three Drug Arrests

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that continuing efforts of his office’s Crime Suppression Unit has resulted in three arrests on drug related charges.

Shirley said the first arrest took place after a November 1 traffic stop on West Currahee Street.

“We stopped one vehicle and as a result, deputies recovered some methamphetamine and made one arrest,” said Shirley.

The sheriff said deputies arrested 56-year-old Robert Jimmy White of Davis Avenue in Toccoa as a result of that traffic stop.

White was charged with one count of Possession of Methamphetamine.

He was released on $5,100 bond.

The sheriff said the Crime Suppression Unit then made another traffic stop earlier this month.

Shirley said that deputies stopped the vehicle after discovering the tag’s registration was suspended.

“The tag actually came back to a BMW and there was no insurance on the truck,” said Shirley. “We recovered some methamphetamine on the driver. She said the passenger in the vehicle tossed the meth to her.”

Shirley said that an investigation confirmed that story.

The sheriff said that deputies arrested 43-year-old Maria Louise Calloway and 33-year-old Michael Justin Comeau, both of Riverdale Road in Toccoa, as a result of this traffic stop.

Both Calloway and Comeau were charged with one count of Possession of Methamphetamine.

At last report, Shirley said both individuals remained in the Stephens County Jail. Calloway’s bond was $15,000 and Comeau’s bond was $17,000.

The sheriff said there was also a felony probation hold on Comeau.
