Time remains to sign up for this year’s “Jailhouse Rock” fundraiser to benefit the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter.
This year’s fundraiser is set for Saturday, August 24 at the Currahee Campus of North Georgia Technical College and is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
The August 24 date is a new one after it was originally postponed back in June.
Humane Shelter Board Secretary/Treasurer Angie Garland said organizers are looking forward to a wonderful evening.
“We are going to have dancing, a wonderful meal, a live and silent auction (with) a fun, secret auctioneer,” said Garland. “I think everyone will be impressed. We need everyone to come out. All you have to do is call me. You can pay at the event. We just need to know you are coming.”
Proceeds from the event benefit the shelter.
Garland said this is the organization’s major fundraiser for the year.
“This is our annual big event and the shelter needs so much and we need the public’s support,” said Garland.
In addition, Garland said the event will serve as a chance for the public to meet the new shelter director, Jeff Roberts, who started earlier this month.
“I am so thrilled and the public is going to be thrilled with Jeff and his vision for the shelter,” she said.
Roberts said he is also excited to be at the event.
“I am looking forward to meeting people in the community, letting them know the vision of the organization,” said Roberts. “We rely on the support from the community. I am hoping we will have a great turnout.”
Tickets are $45 per person.
