Services Saturday For Stephens Co. Neighbors 4 Neighbors Director

Services are set for this weekend for the director of Stephens County Neighbors 4 Neighbors after she passed away last week.

A Celebration of Life service for Pat Standard will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Toccoa.

Standard, who lived in Clayton, was 71 years old.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-car accident in Rabun County last Thursday.

According to information provided by the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol, Standard was driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey west on Plum Orchard Road in Rabun County negotiating a curve when her vehicle traveled onto the right shoulder of the road and continued to travel west across a private drive.

Troopers said the vehicle’s front then struck a tree and continued westbound, striking another tree with its front.

The GSP said the vehicle then overturned onto its top into a small creek.

In the report, the GSP noted that there were no signs of braking or steering at the crash scene.

Besides her work with the Neighbors 4 Neighbors food pantry and food distribution program, Standard also helped to organize and grow the Food 2 Kids program in the Stephens County school system, working to provide food for children dealing with food insecurity on the weekends.
