September Unemployment Numbers Out for Stephens Co.

The number of employed in Stephens County is up and the unemployment rate is down in the month of September when compared to August.

According to numbers released this week by the Georgia Department of Labor, Stephens County had a preliminary unemployment rate for September of 6.1 percent.

That is two-tenths of a percentage point lower than the revised August unemployment rate of 6.3 percent.

In September, Stephens County reported 10,060 as employed.

That is higher than the August figure, which was 9,976.

Also, Stephens County’s September labor force of 10,709 is higher than the August labor force of 10,645.

Meanwhile, Stephens County’s preliminary September unemployment rate is also lower than the revised September 2014 figure of 7.3 percent.

However, this September’s labor force is smaller than last September’s, which was 11,144, and the number of employed in Stephens County this September is less than last September, which was 10,330.

Looking elsewhere around the region, Franklin County’s preliminary September unemployment rate dropped five-tenths of a percentage point to 6.1 percent; Habersham County’s preliminary September unemployment rate went down three-tenths of a percentage point to 5.2 percent; and Banks County’s preliminary September unemployment rate stayed the same at 5.3 percent.
