Senior Center Honors Volunteers

The Stephens County Senior Center takes time to honor its volunteers.

A volunteer recognition luncheon was held on Wednesday for those who donate their time to the Senior Center each year.

Stephens County Senior Center Director Lisa Thomas said that the agency could not do all it does without the help of these people and organizations.

“We could not do many of our programs, Meals on Wheels, art programs, things that we offer, without our volunteers,” said Thomas. “We just do not have the manpower to do it. Our theme is ‘They are superheroes’ and to us they certainly are because are just fabulous, all that they do.”

Thomas went on to say that those volunteers help in a number of areas.

“Most of our volunteers are Meals on Wheels, but we also have volunteers that teach dulcimer class, a sewing class, we have people that decorate for us, people that serve each Tuesday, people that help others on and off the bus,” said Thomas.

The volunteers were recognized as well with a token of appreciation from the Senior Center.
