Sen. Wilkinson Meets With New UGA President

July 2, 2013

50th District State Senator John Wilkinson talks agriculture with the new President at the University of Georgia.

Wilkinson, who chairs the Senate Agriculture Committee, joined other members of the joint Georgia Senate and House Agriculture Committee to meet newly appointed UGA President Jere Morehead last month, prior to his replacing Dr. Michael Adams Monday.

A press release from the Georgia Senate stated that Morehead provided an update on the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and answered legislators’ questions during the meeting.

Senate officials stated that Morehead emphasized the importance of agriculture to Georgia and the University along with his priority to keep UGA’s program growing.

Wilkinson called the meeting a wonderful opportunity to meet informally with Morehead and get to know him better, calling the new UGA president’s commitment to agriculture strong.
