SCSO Recovers Stolen Equipment In Rabun Co.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office says it has found over a thousand dollars in stolen equipment in another county.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that in 2014, a Big A Road business reported that three commercial chainsaws were stolen from their property.

Shirley said that the stolen equipment was then located in Rabun County with the help of authorities there, as well as tips from concerned citizens.

“Working with Rabun County authorities through a tip that investigators from both Stephens and Rabun County had received, it led to the recovery of those chainsaws,” said Shirley. “The chainsaws have been returned to the business owner. We are continuing the investigation with Rabun County. We know who the individual is. We are not to release his name yet.”

The sheriff said charges were forthcoming against the individual.

Shirley said the stolen equipment that was returned was valued at about $1,500.
