SCSO Investigating Home Invasion

June 27, 2013

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion earlier this week.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, deputies received a call from a Rock Creek Circle residence early Tuesday morning.

“We got a call at about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday regarding a home invasion where some individuals forced open the door and had handguns and went into the bedroom where (the victims) were sleeping and got some items, such as money and a cell phone.”

Shirley said that the victims were not injured and reported that the suspects fled the residence by vehicle.

The sheriff went on to say that investigators have already followed up on several leads, recovered someone of the items taken at locations elsewhere in Stephens County, and questioned several persons of interest.

Shirley said that investigation continues to find the persons responsible.

“We believe some arrests are imminent and I want the citizens of the country to feel at ease on this,” said Shirley. “We believe this was an isolated incident.”

The sheriff said incidents like this serve as a reminder for people to make sure their homes are secure, including investigating steps like installing an alarm system.
