SCSO Investigating Early Morning Burglary

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Tuesday morning burglary at an area convenience store.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that Stephens County 911 Dispatch notified deputies that an alarm was triggered early Tuesday morning at the Royal Food Store on West Currahee Street.

Shirley said deputies arrived quickly and discovered the front door was unlocked.

He said once the store was cleared, the owner was notified and the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office arrived to process the scene.

According to the sheriff, a lone individual appears to have entered the store at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, causing the alarm to engage.

The sheriff went on to say that the suspect was able to disable the alarm.

Shirley said that the suspect was captured on video taking cash, cigarettes, and numerous lottery tickets before leaving the scene quickly.

The sheriff did say that his office is following up on leads and hopes to have an arrest soon.
