SCSO, GBI Investigating Death on Prather Bridge Road

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating a death Monday morning in Stephens County.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that authorities received a 911 call at around 11 a.m. in regards to a residence on Prather Bridge Road.

“We received a 911 call that a shot had been fired,” said Shirley. “We arrived and found that a lady had been shot once and was dead on scene. We contacted the GBI to assist us in the investigation.”

Shirley identified the victim as Kim Lanier of the residence on Prather Bridge Road.

He said she was an owner of the Cutting Edge Day Spa in Toccoa.

“This is an isolated incident,” said Shirley. “There will be some charges forthcoming. That is all I can say at this point.”

He did say Monday a person was in custody.

The body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy, but there is no word on when that autopsy will be complete, said Shirley.

He said his thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
