SCSO Arrests Man Sought on Burglary Charges

A man wanted in connection with local burglaries in Stephens County is now in custody.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office says that authorities took Douglas Mark Dodd of Rock Road in Mt. Airy into custody on August 3 without incident.

No details of the arrest have been released at this time.

The 48-year-old Dodd has been charged with burglary in the first degree and burglary in the second degree.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, Dodd faces those charges in connection to a series of alleged thefts and burglaries from a vacant residence on U.S. Highway 123 back in June.

Also, the Sheriff’s Office says additional charges are still pending against Dodd as more investigations are still ongoing.

Last month, the Sheriff’s Office said that he was wanted for questioning in connection to other burglaries.

Dodd is currently being held at the Stephens County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond at last report, according to authorities.
