SCSO Announces Burglary Arrest

A Martinez man faces charges in Stephens County in connection to an alleged burglary.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said his office made the arrest in connection to a burglary on Shangri-La Drive where forced entry was made at the rear door of the residence and items were stolen.

“Investigators working alongside a source got information a Martinez, Georgia individual possessed some items that were being stored in a storage facility in Eastanollee,” said Shirley. “Investigators on Saturday morning discovered thousands of dollars worth of household items, including a collectible set of Hess trucks dating back to the 1960s. All of the items were recovered.”

Shirley said 42-year-old James Richard Gibson of Martinez was arrested at a residence on Georgia Highway 145 in Stephens County Monday afternoon.

The sheriff said he is charged with First Degree Burglary.

At last report, Gibson was in the Stephens County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
