SCMS Rebel Football Wins League Title
The Stephens County Middle School football team wins its conference championship.
Saturday, the Rebels traveled to Carnesville and came away with a 28-6 win over Franklin County.
Stephens County started the scoring on its first play, getting a 48-yard touchdown run from Jaquarian Scott to take a 6-0 lead.
After Stephens County’s Tracy Lowery caused a fumble that Ty Kellar recovered, Gabe White found Kellar for an eight-yard touchdown pass to make it 12-0 in favor of the Rebels at halftime.
In the third quarter, White found Kellar for a 29-yard touchdown pass, then the two connected on the two-point conversion to make it 20-0 in favor of Stephens County.
After Franklin County got a touchdown to cut it 20-6, Ben Hobbs forced and recovered a fumble for the Rebels, leading to a 4-yard touchdown run by Scott for the Rebels’ final touchdown.
A White pass to Eli Stowe on the ensuing two-point conversion play to make it 28-6.
Donovan Curry also had an interception in the game for Stephens County Middle School.
The Rebels end their conference championship season undefeated in the league and 5-1 overall.
