SCMS Football Team Wraps Up Season

October 15, 2013

The Stephens County Middle School football team wraps up a successful season.

The Rebels finished their season last Wednesday, losing their final game to Jefferson on the road.

However, that was the only loss for Stephens County Middle School’s football team on the season as they compiled a 5-1 record.

In addition, the Rebels won their middle school conference championship, not allowing a single point to any of their conference opponents.

Stephens County Middle School Football Head Coach Matt Miller said he is very proud of the work that the players and the coaches have put in to this past season.

“I am real excited about what we were able to accomplish, especially those shutouts,” said Miller.  “It was a record for our middle school.  The kids just played real well.”

Miller went on to say that this year’s success also gives next year’s team something to strive for.

He added that he and the other middle school coaches in the conference are also planning to discuss a true playoff system for next year’s season.
